Maintaining naturally curly hair in the fall doesn't have to break the bank. Here are eight low or no-cost tips to help you keep your curls healthy and vibrant during the autumn season:
1.
Stay Hydrated:
I know I say this all the time, but I want to add a twist. Consider switching to distilled water. Distilled water is the cleanest healthy drinking water on Earth. It is free from contaminants and can be used for many consumable and non-consumable uses. Feel free to add vitamin or mineral drops, drink sticks or anything else to your water once you know you are starting with a clean slate. By doing this, you know EXACTLY what is in your water instead of finding out later that there is lead, arsenic, nitrates, bacteria, viruses or something else in your water. This is great a article I found on the benefits of distilled water.
Whatever type of water you choose just drink plenty to keep your hair and scalp hydrated from the inside out. Well-hydrated hair is less prone to dryness and breakage.
2.
Use a
Satin or Silk Pillowcase:
Satin Pillowcases reduce friction created between the hair and the pillow. This can reduce hair damage. They provide a smooth texture which can help protect your skin from sleep lines. Helps to reduce breakouts by absorbing less moisture. You will wake up every morning feeling refreshed and ready to go on with your day. Satin pillowcases are naturally cooler, making them an excellent option for hot sleepers.
3.

Protective Hairstyles:
Opt for protective styles like braids, twists, or coils to shield your hair from harsh weather conditions in the fall as we approach winter. This will also reduce the need for daily styling.
5.
Skip Heat Styling:
Avoid using heat styling tools like flat irons or curling wands. Embrace your natural texture to minimize damage and retain moisture.
6.
DIY Hair Refresh Spray:
Create a DIY hair refresh spray by mixing water with a small amount of leave-in conditioner or pure aloe vera in a spray bottle. Use it to revive your curls on non-wash days. Cost saving tip, sometimes you can find pure aloe vera in the dollar store!
7.
Weekly Scalp Massages:
Give yourself a weekly scalp massage using your fingertips. This promotes blood circulation, encourages natural oil production, and keeps your scalp healthy.

8.
Avoid Over-Shampooing:
Shampooing too often can strip your hair of its natural oils. Reduce the frequency of shampooing and consider co-washing (using conditioner only) between washes to maintain moisture.
By incorporating these budget-friendly tips into your hair care routine, you can ensure your naturally curly hair stays moisturized and healthy throughout the fall season.
Have a great day on purpose!
